I posted on my twitter how I thought that David Hobby must have metric buttloads of Whuffie (the currency based on reputation and what you do for the greater good), but I'll tell ya... this Chase Jarvis fella's got to be pretty close.
Chase [blog] is the golden one of modern photography, to my mind. He runs big studio, splits his time between Seattle, Paris and location shoots. He must have wicked frequent flyer points. In the middle of all of this he has somebody filming their shoots so he can put it up on his blog and on iTunes for everybody to learn how to do pictures like he does. So awesome.
So Chase & his team meet with the Seattle Strobists (followers of David Hobby's Strobist blog) and ask what he and his staff can do to help them learn more (here's Chase's post about the meeting.).
The result: Chase rented an empty airplane hanger, got a bunch of models and invited them all to come in. Oh, and when they were done Chase threw them a party at his studio. Here's the result:

That is the title of an article that was written about me in this week's Muskokan newspaper. To see the article in full click through. The only drag about the online version of the story is that it doesn't have all of the pictures that were in the actual paper - lots of great tattoo pictures and a copy of the zipline photo that won the Our Kids magazine photo contest.
A bit of it:
The camp also opened another door for Allison. His love of photography. There has been a long tradition of capturing the generations as they make their way though the camp’s ranks. This ignited a passion Allison had when he was younger.
He works under the name Subtlevox Photography and as well as capturing years of summers, he shoots weddings, band shots, album covers, and advertising and promotion work.
“My mom took courses at night school,” he explained. “Most people start out with a point-and-shoot; I learned on a full manual Pentax.”
“The camp would take about 2,000 slides a year and having a slide show was a great camp tradition."
I'm shooting an engagement shoot at Michelle & Jeff Wilson's farm this weekend and I thought I'd play with her maternity shots a bit before delivering a disk to them. I hope to post some more this week.
Here's my favourite of tonights work.
More on Flickr - please let me know what you think of them. I would love to hear which is your favourite.
We are celebrating my grandparents 65th wedding anniversary on the 24th of June.
Beth & I were at their house two weekends ago to take their portraits for their announcement in the paper and for all of the family to have.
What an amazing couple!
Here is the complete set (and the slideshow).
So when you become a famous photographer and get invited to go to the World Rally Championship you get to take great pictures like these.
Congratulations Mek.
George Lange put together a bunch of his 2006 photos in a "video flip book" and it is a great five minutes to just sit back and enjoy a master portrait photographer.
Must take more pictures...

This photographer that I follow, named Becker, just wrote a great story about getting into the WSP yesterday.
Clay Enos is one of my favourite and most inspiring photographers. As I think more and more about doing this for a living I have been doing lots of looking at weddings as a really fun way to make some money to get some gear and some great experience.
But... Enos makes me realize that I need to make sure that I balance stuff like that with photography as a tool to teach others. I love his travel photographs.
More of his stuff on Flickr.
