Subtlevox Stumps the Swarm Question #3 is available on my main blog [click here].
With this, the last few minutes of my 37th birthday, I'd like to announce my new blog for Subtlevox Photography.
Please update your RSS feeds. Thanks for all of the good times on Vox!
This video is stunning. I love the Post Secret blog. Once a week, Frank Warren posts a collection of post cards to his blog. Each one of them hand-made by someone anonymous and containing a secret that no one knows. I am amazed every week at how honest, thoughtful, jarring, poignant, gross or brilliant the cards are.
This is a great introduction to the project. There are (I think) 3 books of collected cards now - Christmas anyone?
(watch out some of these are a little edgy - but SFW)
Featuring... Tara Hunt.
Tara is a bit of marketing and presentation hero to me. She worked for a company as their evangelist and she was so good at it that when she left I stopped caring about the company and product and have just followed her work with all of her innovative new clients.
I get great ideas for camp and for the photography business from the things that Tara works on. (Plus, I'm happy to cheer for her as a Canadian working in Silicon Vally). I love that she works so openly and shares so much of what she does (on her blog, work blog, Flickr, etc.). Just lately, she posted about a new service she was using called Slideshare where she was posting her presentations (ie. Powerpoint slides). Her talks are consistently great and she makes great slides - important to a visualist like me.
I just watched a video of her presentation to GOVIS in New Zealand called Unmanaging: Unleashing the Creative Beast. I watched the video on Blip.tv and followed along on with her slides.
I'm going to set up all of my presentations like this from now on. Another great thing to advertise your skills on the WWW (and to keep on your claimID page)
(must go learn something about compressing video...)
I read a blog called The Good Human by a guy from California. He usually writes about environmental stuff.
This story turns my stomach:
Whoo-hoo, we are going to war! again. (he's being facetious [the "Whoo-hoo" part])
A quote: GARDINER: We are conducting military operations inside Iran right now. The evidence is overwhelming. From both the Iranians, Americans, and from congressional sources.
BLITZER: What is “military operation?” Define that.
GARDINER: Sure. They probably have had two objectives going back 18 months. The first was to gather intelligence. Where is the Iranian nuclear program? The second has been to prepare dissident groups for phase two which will be the strike, which will come as the next phase, I think.
